IBEC’s Mobility & Transport Committees focus on nurturing low-carbon biomass-based fuels and technologies across road, aviation, shipping, and rail sectors. They advance biofuels innovation, promote supportive policy frameworks, and advocate for integration of biomass fuels into existing and future mobility systems.
Areas of Work
- Development and scaling of bioethanol, biodiesel, sustainable aviation fuels (SAF), and biogas for transport applications.
- Research and policy advocacy supporting carbon intensity reduction measures integrated with biofuel deployment.
- Collaboration on emerging renewable fuels including electrofuels (power-to-x) and bio-hydrogen blending.
- Engagement with vehicle manufacturers, fuel providers, and policymakers to accelerate sustainable transport transitions.
Global Impact
The transportation sector, especially hard-to-electrify segments like aviation and shipping, is a priority focus for biofuel adoption. Committees contribute to international dialogues supporting carbon-neutral transport goals aligned with IMO and ICAO frameworks.
